Mrs McBride (Duneane and Moneynick Governor) kindly invited children from Duneane and Moneynick to the Eel fishery in Toome today. The children had a super time learning about eels and where they come from, the different stages in their development, how they make the journey to Lough Neagh and how they are caught and prepared.
The whole trip was extremely interesting and the children even had the chance to go and catch and handle the eels! A massive thank you to everyone at the fishery for putting on a first class educational experience for our children and staff! As Duneane is in Toomebridge, it is lovely for the children to learn about an important local business with years of heritage in the community which provides valuable income and jobs in the area and exports a top class product abroad!
