In our Ancient Egypt topic we have been learning about the process of Mummification. To make this learning 'real' and to link it with Science the children had the chance to mummify their own tomatoes, while drawing comparisons with the mummification process that the Ancient Egyptians carried out. The children learned that the Ancient Egyptians carried out this process to enable the person to enter the afterlife. We also learned about the methods they used to preserve the body and stop it decaying and rotting. We will look at out mummified tomatoes in a few weeks time to see if we preserved our tomatoes just as well as the Ancient Egyptians! The children and staff had great fun!
